Our target
We design and build this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA (opens in new tab). Our facility administrators include people working in long shifts, in low light, with magnifiers, with screen readers, and with arthritis — and we want the site to work for all of them.
What we've done
- Semantic HTML (real
<header>,<nav>,<main>, and<footer>landmarks) - Visible focus indicators (2 px outline with 2 px offset on every focusable element)
- A "Skip to main content" link as the first focusable item on every page
- Real
<label>elements on every form field — no placeholder-only inputs - Phone numbers as
tel:links so they're tappable on mobile and announced clearly by screen readers - Color contrast checked against AA minimums for all text
- Keyboard support on the mobile navigation drawer (Escape to close)
- Self-hosted Inter font so we don't depend on a third-party CDN
- Static HTML — no client-side rendering, so the page is usable as soon as it arrives
Known limitations
We test the site against the axe accessibility scanner (opens in new tab) and Lighthouse's accessibility audits. The Google Maps embed on the contact page is a third-party iframe whose internal accessibility we don't control — if you need driving directions, please call us and we'll be glad to walk you through them.
